We know that you have put a lot of time and energy into your book. You’ve had a few friends look at it and you think you are ready for it to be published. However, you want to have it checked to make sure. Since the editorial quality of your book will have such an impact on your readers and its ultimate success, it is important to have another set of professional eyes look over your book before it is published
The Editorial Assessment is a manuscript checkup that assesses your work to be sure that it has fulfilled the basic requirements of a published book. The editorial evaluator will not only provide you with a general overview of your manuscript but will also educate you through constructive comments on how to write a better book
The Editorial Assessment provides an excellent overview of the shape of your manuscript. It includes a detailed assessment form outlining your book's strengths, suggested areas for improvement, a sample Line Edit highlighting the types of errors found, constructive comments for improvement, and our recommendations for potential editorial services. Armed with the knowledge from this assessment, you can easily select the service that will most benefit your manuscript
Our Editorial Assessment evaluates sections of your manuscript to gauge what type or level of editing could help polish it. As part of the process, a portion of your work (typically the first chapter or about 1,700 words) will be edited to provide you with a sample. If the author wishes to have the full manuscript evaluated, an additional fee for each 50,000 words will be required. Should the author purchase one of our editing services, the full manuscript will be edited line by line.
You may also opt to make the changes yourself, work with your own editor or allow us to provide an editorial specialist who will take your book through a thorough editing process and address issues raised in the Editorial Assessment. Your manuscript will receive the utmost attention from one of our professional editors.
* The Editorial Assessment is not a replacement for our editorial services. Rather, it is a preliminary diagnostic tool, examining sections of the manuscript in detail to pinpoint areas in need of improvement. We offer examples of items that could be strengthened and give critique and commentary across a range of topics..
* Burning Bulb Publishing accepts a very low margin of error in each completed edit. To ensure your book is the highest quality we won’t accept no more than three percent of the total errors found. Our professional in-house editorial staff reviews each editorial service for quality assurance. Upon reviewing your edited manuscript, if you believe that an unsatisfactory number of errors remain, please create a list of the errors with the page numbers and paragraph on which they appear and email it to burningbulbpublishing. We will review the list with you and address your concern.
Our Editorial Assessment service offers you a review of your manuscript and gauges what type or level of editing it may benefit from. The estimated time frame for the Editorial Assessment is two to three weeks. Depending on the results, the editorial evaluator will recommend the services of either a line editor, content editor, or developmental editor. If you choose to purchase the editing service recommended for your manuscript, we will assign your book to an editorial specialist who will take your book through a thorough editing process and address issues raised in the Editorial Assessment. You may also opt to work with your own editor or make the recommended changes yourself.
Send us an email today to learn more or to request our Editorial Assessment Service. We will guide you through the process.
